Who does the work

Nuvolt Electrical Solutions is a licensed Queensland electrical contractor (Lic# 92489), SAA accredited for both solar and battery installs, with our workshop in Nambour on the Sunshine Coast. Brisbane's northside and Moreton Bay are a regular booked run for us, and battery installs are the work that brings us down the highway.

To be plain about what that means: in Brisbane we do solar, battery and EV charger installs only, booked by appointment and grouped into runs so the install date holds. Everyday callouts stay on the Sunshine Coast, within about 40km of the Nambour workshop, so for a tripped safety switch in Brisbane a local electrician is the quicker call.

When you enquire, the person who reads your bill, looks at your switchboard photos and writes your quote is the licensed contractor responsible for the install. There is no sales rep in between and no overseas call centre.

The Ranges We Install

Batteries We Fit in Brisbane Homes

We supply and install these ranges as a core part of the business. Each has its own page, and each has a review we wrote after installing it.

Fox ESS

The brand on more of our installs than any other. A Fox ESS hybrid inverter with the stackable CQ7 battery, sized to your usage and expandable later.

GoodWe

The ESA puts the hybrid inverter, the battery modules and the switching gear in one prewired cabinet, with whole home backup available.

Sigenergy

SigenStor stacks the inverter and battery modules into one modular tower, with an optional DC module that charges an EV from your solar and battery.

Sungrow

An SH series hybrid inverter with Sungrow's stackable battery, on single phase or three phase to suit your supply.

SolaX

Triple Power batteries with a SolaX hybrid, or an AC coupled retrofit that keeps a good existing solar inverter on the wall.

Three phase homes

A large three phase hybrid with a full battery stack behind it, sized to sit under the 30 kilowatt three phase inverter limit so the connection application stays an ordinary one.

We install and support Fox ESS, GoodWe, SolaX, Tesla, BYD, SMA and Fronius systems, choosing brands based on your site, usage and warranty needs rather than commission. Every install is built to AS/NZS 3000, 5033 and 5139.

Solar Battery or Home Battery

The Right Battery Starts With What You Already Have

A solar battery and a home battery are the same thing. What changes the design is whether solar is already on the roof and what state its inverter is in.

Solar and battery together

No solar yet, or an old system worth replacing. A hybrid inverter runs new panels and the battery as one system with one app, and the new panels earn the solar certificates as well as the battery discount.

A battery added to existing solar

If your inverter is young and well supported, an AC coupled battery can sit beside it and leave the working system alone. If it is old or out of warranty, a hybrid swap is usually the better move. We quote the path that fits your gear and say why.

Sized to your evenings

A battery pays its way by cycling every day, so we size it to what your home uses between sunset and sunrise, from a recent bill. The quote states usable capacity, because that is what runs your home and what the rebate is calculated on.

Backup Power

Backup Is a Wiring Decision, Not a Feature in the Box

Not every battery keeps the lights on when the street goes dark. When the grid fails, a backup capable system disconnects from the network for safety and picks up your nominated circuits after a short changeover. It is quick, but it is not an uninterruptible power supply, and we say so up front.

Every circuit the battery backs up in a blackout needs a Type A RCBO, so the backup you choose decides the switchboard work. A battery with no backup needs no safety switch upgrade for that reason. We price whichever you choose in the written quote.

Whole home backup

Runs your entire switchboard within the inverter's output limits. Needs a larger inverter and battery, and usually board work.

Essential circuits

The fridge, lights, internet and the circuits you nominate. Ducted aircon, ovens and EV charging typically sit out the blackout.

No backup at all

A legitimate choice. The battery still cuts your bills every day and simply shuts down with the grid.

How the Job Runs

From Quote to Commissioning

  1. 01

    Enquiry

Use the form or call 0494 826 740, and we reply within 2 hours during business hours. A recent power bill and photos of your switchboard, meter box and where the battery might go get the design started.

  2. 02

    Design and written quote

The battery is sized to your evening use, the usable capacity and the rebate are itemised, and any switchboard work is priced in. Most details are settled from photos, or at a design visit if one is needed.

  3. 03

    Approval and paperwork

Before any work is done we lodge the Energex connection application and confirm the battery rebate eligibility for your system.

  4. 04

    Install day

Booked on our Brisbane run by appointment and installed to AS/NZS 5139 by our SAA accredited team, signed off by a licensed Queensland electrician. Your quote confirms the timeframe for your job.

  5. 05

    Commissioning and handover

The system is tested and commissioned, monitoring is set up on your phone, and the backup behaviour is shown to you before we leave.

  6. 06

    Certificates and rebate

You receive the Queensland electrical certificate for the work, and the rebate certificates are lodged for you so the discount comes off your invoice.

Federal Battery Rebate

How the Battery Rebate Actually Works

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program discounts an eligible battery through small scale technology certificates, the same scheme that has discounted rooftop solar for years. It is not a cash payment. The certificates are assigned to the installer and their value comes off your invoice, so a good quote shows the full installed price, the discount as its own line, and what you pay.

The size of the discount comes from the battery's usable capacity, a certificate factor set for the period the battery is installed in, and the market price of certificates. The factor tapers with size: every kWh above 14 earns a reduced share, and capacity above 50 kWh earns nothing, which is one more reason to size to your evenings. It applies with new solar or solar you already have. The battery has to be capable of joining a virtual power plant, but joining one stays your choice, and it is one claim per property.

The step down, and why the install date matters

The certificate factor steps down on 1 January 2027 and keeps stepping down at set dates after that. It follows the date the battery is installed, not the date a quote is written or signed. A battery installed and commissioned by 31 December 2026 gets the current factor, and one installed from 1 January 2027 gets the lower one.

Install calendars fill toward the end of each year, so if a battery suits your home it is worth booking a realistic install date early. If it does not suit your home, a date on the calendar is not a reason to buy one.

The Energex Network

Network Rules That Shape a Battery Quote

Brisbane, Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast are all on the Energex network, so these are the same connection rules we work to on every battery job.

Approval comes before the work

Any change to the inverter on your connection, and any change to battery capacity, needs a connection application lodged through the Energex Electrical Partners Portal before installation. We lodge it, and a battery quote that does not mention it is missing a step.

Every inverter counts toward one limit

Energex counts all the inverters on a property against the same capacity limit: 10 kilowatts on a single phase supply and 30 kilowatts across three phase. An existing solar inverter plus a separate battery inverter can use up a single phase allowance, which is often why a hybrid is the design that fits.

Bigger arrays may be export limited

A larger solar array is subject to network approval and may have its export to the grid limited. That is one more reason the battery and the array are designed together rather than one after the other.

On the 44 cent feed in tariff?

The Solar Bonus Scheme conditions keep the tariff if the inverter is replaced with one of the same or smaller capacity, and end it if capacity increases. The scheme runs to 1 July 2028. Get your configuration confirmed in writing with Energex and your retailer before you sign.

Worth the Drive

Why Book a Sunshine Coast Installer for a Brisbane Battery

Quoted by the installer, not a sales rep

The licensed contractor who reads your bill and writes your quote is the one responsible for the install. You deal directly with the contractor, not a call centre or a commission salesperson.

Sized honestly

We size to your evenings rather than to the biggest battery a rebate allows, and we will tell you plainly if a battery does not pay its way for your household.

No pressure selling

No deposit taken over the phone and no countdown timers. You get a written quote with the rebate shown line by line, to read in your own time.

Batteries we have lived with

We write our own reviews of the batteries we fit, comparing usable capacity, backup and where each one suits a Queensland home and where it does not.

Backed after the install

The manufacturer warranty covers the battery itself, and our lifetime workmanship warranty (conditions apply) covers the installation.
