EV Charger Installation
Licensed EV charger installation on the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and greater QLD. Home and commercial chargers installed on their own compliant circuit, with a proper load assessment and smart, OCPP-compatible units, direct from the contractor doing the work.
EV Charger Installation, Done Properly
An EV charger is a continuous, high-current load — not something to run off the nearest power point. Done properly, it's a dedicated circuit, the right protection, and a charger matched to your supply and your car. Nuvolt installs home and commercial EV chargers across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and surrounding Queensland regions, direct from the licensed contractor doing the work.
We start with a real load assessment so the charger won't trip your supply or overload an older switchboard, then install a smart, OCPP-compatible unit you can schedule, monitor and — if you have solar — charge from your own panels.
Already going solar?
If you're installing or upgrading solar & battery, adding an EV charger at the same time is the most cost-effective way to do it — one switchboard assessment, one visit, and charging that's aware of your solar generation.

Home EV chargers
Wall-mounted home chargers on a dedicated, RCD-protected circuit, sited for a tidy cable run and easy daily use. Single-phase (typically up to 7kW) or three-phase (up to 22kW) where your supply allows.
Commercial & workplace charging
Multi-bay, staff and customer charging for businesses, with networked, OCPP-compatible chargers that support access control, usage reporting and billing where required.
Load assessment
Before quoting we check your main switch rating, existing load and available capacity so the charger won't overload your supply — and recommend dynamic load management where it's the smarter option to upgrading.
Switchboard considerations
EV chargers need their own correctly protected circuit. We check your switchboard for spare capacity, RCD/RCBO protection and compliant labelling, and flag any upgrade up-front rather than on install day.
Smart & OCPP chargers
Wi-Fi-connected, app-controlled chargers with scheduling, solar-aware charging and OCPP support so the unit isn't locked to a single vendor's back-end.
Solar-aware charging
Pair your charger with solar so you can top up from excess daytime generation instead of the grid. Works alongside a new or existing solar and battery system.
The Charger Is Only as Good as the Circuit Behind It
EV charging adds one of the largest sustained loads in a modern home. We check that your switchboard and supply can take it before we quote, so you don't end up with nuisance tripping or an unsafe install.
Not sure your board is up to it? A $199 electrical safety check covers exactly this, and the fee is credited toward any work you go ahead with.
What we check before quoting
- →Main switch rating and available spare capacity for a new high-current circuit
- →Single- vs three-phase supply and the charger speed it supports
- →RCD/RCBO protection and a dedicated, correctly labelled circuit
- →Whether dynamic load management avoids a costlier supply upgrade
- →Cable route and mounting position for a tidy, practical install
- →Network provider notification where higher-power chargers require it

Free Consultation
Tell us your vehicle, where you'd like the charger and whether you have single- or three-phase supply. We confirm what's possible at your property.
Site & Load Assessment
We assess your switchboard, available capacity and cable run, then recommend the right charger and circuit — with load management if it avoids an unnecessary upgrade.
Compliant Install
A licensed electrician installs the charger on its own protected circuit to AS/NZS 3000, mounts it neatly and commissions the unit and its app.
Test & Handover
We test everything, walk you through charging and scheduling, and provide the appropriate Queensland electrical certificate on completion.
EV Charging Questions
Straight answers on circuits, switchboards, charger speeds and solar charging, from the contractor doing the work.
Do I need a dedicated circuit for an EV charger?
Yes. An EV charger must run on its own dedicated, RCD-protected circuit from the switchboard, sized for the charger's continuous load. We never share it with other appliances.
Can my switchboard handle an EV charger?
Often yes, but it depends on your main switch rating, current load and spare capacity. We assess this before quoting. Where capacity is tight, dynamic load management can let you charge safely without a full supply upgrade.
Should I get a single-phase or three-phase charger?
Single-phase chargers (typically up to 7kW) suit most homes and add plenty of range overnight. Three-phase chargers (up to 22kW) charge faster but need three-phase supply at the property. We'll confirm which you have and what your car can actually accept.
What is load management or dynamic load balancing?
It lets the charger automatically reduce its draw when the rest of the home is using power, so you stay within your supply limit. It's often a cheaper, smarter alternative to upgrading your main supply.
Can I charge my EV from my solar?
Yes. A solar-aware smart charger can prioritise excess solar generation, so you charge from your own panels during the day instead of the grid. It works with a new or existing solar and battery system.
Do you install EV chargers for businesses?
Yes. We install workplace and commercial charging with networked, OCPP-compatible units that support access control and usage reporting, scaled to the number of bays you need.
Will my energy provider need to be notified?
Higher-power and three-phase chargers can require notification to your network provider. Where that applies, we handle the paperwork as part of the job.
How long does an EV charger installation take?
A typical home install is completed in a single visit. Time varies with cable-run length, switchboard work and whether a supply upgrade is needed — all confirmed in your fixed-price quote first.
