Solar & Battery Rebates, Explained Honestly
Rebate maths is where solar sales tactics hide. This page explains what the schemes actually are, what steps down and when, and what finance really costs, the same way we explain it at your kitchen table.
Solar: the STC rebate
New solar systems earn Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). Their value depends on system size, your zone and the current certificate price, and it is applied as an up-front discount on your quote. We lodge the STC claim on your behalf.
The STC value reduces every year until the scheme winds down, so the same system costs a little more out of pocket each January.
Batteries: the federal battery rebate
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program discounts new home batteries based on usable capacity. To qualify, the system must use approved equipment and be signed off by an SAA accredited installer. Nuvolt is SAA accredited (S6093214), so our installs are rebate-eligible and the paperwork is handled for you.
Advertised prices include current federal rebates and are valid for installations completed by 31 December 2026.
Current rebate-applied package pricing lives on the battery offer and the complete home energy system pages, and every quote we send shows the rebate as its own line so you can see exactly what you are getting.
Finance via the Brighte Green Loan
Low fixed-rate finance from 9.49% p.a. (comparison rate 10.98% p.a.) over a 7-year term. Example repayments straight from Brighte's own calculator:
Battery add-on
~$26/week
$6,000 system, $53 per fortnight
Solar + battery
~$61/week
$15,000 system, $122 per fortnight
Whole-home system
~$99/week
$25,000 system, $197 per fortnight
Figures from Brighte’s repayment calculator. Green Loan, 7-year term, $0 deposit, fees included. The advertised rate is Brighte’s lowest, for an excellent credit profile; your actual rate (9.49-13.99% p.a., comparison rate 10.98% p.a.) and repayments depend on the amount financed, the term and your credit assessment, so they may be higher. Finance is provided by Brighte Capital Pty Ltd, not Nuvolt Electrical, and is subject to approval. T&Cs and fees apply.
Rebate & finance FAQs
What rebates can I get on solar and batteries in Queensland?
Two federal schemes apply. New solar systems are discounted up front through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), and new home batteries are discounted through the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program. Both are applied as an up-front price reduction on your quote, not something you claim back later.
How much is the battery rebate worth?
It depends on the usable capacity of the battery you install. The discount is built into the advertised price of our battery packages, so the price you see is after the rebate. We confirm your exact figure in a written, fixed-price quote.
Do rebates run out?
They step down. The solar STC value reduces every year, and the federal battery program steps down over time too. A system installed sooner locks in the current, higher value; the same system installed after a step-down costs more out of pocket.
Who qualifies for the battery rebate?
The install must use approved equipment and be designed and signed off by an SAA accredited installer. Nuvolt is SAA accredited (S6093214), so our battery installs are rebate-eligible and we handle the paperwork end to end.
Can I finance a solar or battery system instead of paying up front?
Yes, through our finance partner Brighte and their Green Loan (from 9.49% p.a., comparison rate 10.98% p.a.), subject to approval. Tell us you are interested in finance when you request a quote and we will walk you through repayments for your actual system.
