We install any brand of home or commercial EV charger, including one you already own or one that came with your car, single or three phase, across the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane from our Nambour base. Below is what we check on every install, then what matters for each brand we are asked about most. Your brand not listed? We install that too.

Every Install

What We Check for Any Charger

The brand changes the features. The electrical job underneath is the same, and it is where a charger install goes right or wrong.

Supply capacity and load

We check your main switch rating, what the home already draws and the spare capacity for a new high current circuit, and whether load management avoids a bigger upgrade.

Single or three phase

We confirm which supply you have and what your car can actually accept, because some EVs only take up to 11kW on AC however big the charger is.

The right protection device

An EV charger circuit needs residual current protection that suits the charger. Many chargers detect DC fault current inside the unit, and the manufacturer's installation instructions set what goes in your switchboard. We fit what the charger and the Wiring Rules call for.

A dedicated circuit

Every hard wired charger goes on its own circuit from the switchboard, sized for the charger's continuous load. It never shares with other appliances.

Cable run and mounting

We plan where the charger mounts and how the cable gets there from the switchboard, so the run is tidy and protected and the charger reaches where you park.

Solar and battery

Where the charger supports it, we set up solar surplus charging, the CT clamps or inverter link it needs, and app or OCPP control.

We install

Tesla Wall Connector

Tesla's wall mounted home charger. We install it on its own circuit with the switchboard and cabling work that goes with it, whether it came with the car or you bought it separately.

What we need before quoting

  • Whether you have single or three phase supply, and which Tesla or other EV it will charge
  • Where the Wall Connector will mount and how far that is from the switchboard
  • Whether a second charger will ever share the same supply
We install

Ocular EV chargers

Ocular's IQ Home Solar is a home charger built around charging from your own solar, using CT clamps that measure your excess solar.

Models in Australia

  • IQ Home Solar, single phase: 7.2kW
  • IQ Home Solar, three phase: 22kW
  • Universal socket version, or a tethered version with a 5m Type 2 cable

What matters at install

  • Three charging modes: Fast, Solar Assist (a minimum of 6 amps plus any excess solar) and Solar Only
  • CT clamps measure your excess solar, on a 20m lead from the charger to the switchboard as standard
  • Built in load management on the IQ Home Solar range
  • App control over WiFi to schedule charging and track solar and grid use
  • IP55 rated

What we need before quoting

  • Where your main switchboard and solar connection sit, so the CT clamp lead reaches
  • WiFi signal where the charger will mount
  • Socket or tethered version, so we know whether you plug in your own cable

Good fit: Suits a solar home that wants to choose between solar only and faster charging.

We install

Evnex EV chargers

Chargers Supplied With the Car

Some car brands include or sell a wall charger with a new EV. It goes in the same way as any other brand: its own circuit, the right protection and a tidy cable run.

BYD

The BYD AC Charger comes as 7kW single phase or 11kW three phase, with a 7.5m cable, plug and charge operation and RFID card access. It suits BYD and other Type 2 EVs, and BYD asks for it to be installed by a licensed electrician.

Geely

Geely has offered a 7kW single phase home wall charger with the EX5, with installation not included and the charger brand varying with availability. Send us the model that arrives and we quote the install.

MG and other car brands

Whatever wall charger came with your MG or other EV, send us the model name from the box and a photo of your switchboard, and we check it suits your supply before quoting.

Portable chargers

Your EV may also have come with a portable charger. In a standard power point it charges at up to 2.4kW, while a dedicated wall charger typically supplies 7 to 22kW.

Some portable chargers are made to plug into a higher rated outlet than a standard power point. Those need a dedicated outlet of the matching rating on its own circuit, which we install. Send us a photo of the plug and we fit the outlet to suit.

FAQ

Charger Brand Questions

Can you install a charger I bought online?

Yes. The electrical work is the same whoever supplied the charger: a check of your supply and switchboard, a dedicated circuit with the right protection, mounting, commissioning and the Queensland electrical certificate at the end. Send us the make and model and a photo of your switchboard and we will quote the install.

Can you install the charger that came with my car?

Yes. Wall chargers from car brands such as BYD, MG and Geely go in the same way as any other brand. Tell us the model that came with the car, or send a photo of the label, and we check it suits your supply before quoting.

Do I need three phase power for an EV charger?

No. A single phase charger suits most homes and adds plenty of range overnight. Three phase only charges faster when both your supply and your car support it, and some EVs only accept up to 11kW on AC. We check your supply and your car before recommending anything.

Will my switchboard need an upgrade?

Sometimes. It depends on your main switch rating, what the home already draws and whether there is room and the right protection for a new circuit. We check first and tell you before any work starts. Where capacity is tight, a charger with load management can often avoid a bigger upgrade.

Can the charger run off my solar?

If the charger has a solar mode, yes. Ocular, Zappi, Fronius Wattpilot, Evnex, Sigenergy, Sungrow and Fox ESS chargers all offer ways to charge from surplus solar. Some models need an add on or a matching inverter for this, and we confirm that before quoting. We fit the CT clamps or inverter link the charger needs and set the mode up when we commission it.

Do you sell all of these chargers?

No. We supply and install Sungrow and Fox ESS chargers, with a fixed install price you can check online. For every other brand on this page, we install the charger, whether you bought it yourself or it came with your car.

What do you need from me to quote?

The charger make and model, whether you have single or three phase supply if you know it, a photo of your switchboard and meter box, and where you want the charger. Clear photos settle most charger installs. If something can't be confirmed that way, we'll explain why before anything is booked.

Can I just use a portable charger?

You can. A portable charger in a standard power point charges at up to 2.4kW, which can take up to a day to fill an EV but may cover short daily driving. Some portable chargers are made for a higher rated outlet, and those need a dedicated outlet on its own circuit, which we install.
