FAQ

Fox ESS Package Questions

Straight answers on the hardware, the battery sizing, backup and the rebates, from the licensed contractor doing the work.

Why is Fox ESS the brand you install most?

Because it keeps earning its place. The hardware is reliable, the stackable CQ7 battery makes right-sizing easy, support is responsive, and the value for money lets more households afford a battery that actually covers their evenings. We install what we would put on our own homes, and for most customers that conversation starts with Fox ESS.

How big can the CQ7 battery go?

The CQ7 stacks 6.99kWh modules, so a typical home lands anywhere from around 14kWh to 28kWh, and larger stacks are available for big consumers. Because it is modular, you can also start smaller and add modules later. We size it to your actual usage at the site assessment rather than defaulting to the biggest stack a rebate allows.

Does it handle blackouts?

Yes, with a compatible backup configuration the Fox ESS hybrid keeps nominated circuits running when the grid drops. Whether that is essential circuits or something closer to whole-home depends on your switchboard, loads and the backup wiring, which we assess and quote per site so the backup behaves the way you expect.

I already have solar. Can I just add the Fox ESS battery?

Often, yes. Retrofitting a CQ7 battery and hybrid inverter to an existing compliant solar system is one of our most common jobs, and it has its own dedicated package. See our battery retrofit offer, or book a site inspection and we will confirm what your existing system can take.

Why pair it with 13.3kW of solar?

A 13.3kW array of 28 x 475W Trina Vertex S+ panels on the 9.99kW hybrid is the classic maximum-value configuration: it fills the battery earlier in the day, generates meaningfully more in winter and on cloudy days, and stays within standard oversizing rules. Network approval and export limits are confirmed as part of your quote.

Is it rebate eligible?

Yes. Fox ESS inverters and batteries are CEC approved and our installs are signed off by our SAA accredited installer, so eligible solar STCs and the federal battery rebate are applied up front in your written quote.

What warranties come with it?

Fox ESS covers the CQ7 battery modules with a 10-year warranty and the hybrid inverter with its standard manufacturer warranty, the Trina Vertex S+ panels carry a 25-year product and 30-year performance warranty, and our installation work is covered by our lifetime workmanship warranty (conditions apply, see our Terms).
