Sungrow SH25T 25kW Three Phase with a Full 40kWh Tower

Sungrow are the largest inverter manufacturer in the world, and the SH25T is the biggest three-phase hybrid they build for homes. It is a 25kW inverter that takes up to 50kW of solar, backs up the whole board through its own built-in 63A bypass, and carries a C5 corrosion rating, the highest there is, which matters more than people think when you live within sight of the water. Our headline build pairs it with a full eight-module SBH tower, 40kWh, every kilowatt hour of which you are allowed to use.

What's included

Our headline Sungrow three-phase build. Every part of it is sized to your site before we quote.

  • Sungrow SH25T 25kW three-phase hybrid inverter
  • Sungrow SBH400 battery tower: eight 5kWh LFP modules, 40kWh usable
  • Solar array sized to your roof, up to 50kW of Trina Vertex S+ 475W panels
  • Whole-home backup through the inverter's own 63A bypass, with no separate gateway to buy
  • 10-year manufacturer warranty on the battery
  • 25-year product warranty, 30-year performance warranty on the panels
  • Full system design, network connection application and commissioning
  • Installed by a licensed electrical contractor with SAA solar and battery accreditation
  • Eligible STC and federal battery rebates applied up front in your written quote
  • Lifetime workmanship warranty on our installation (conditions apply, see our Terms)

Who this size is for

  • Coastal and near-beach properties, where the C5 corrosion rating earns its keep
  • Three-phase homes with badly unbalanced loads, since this one supports 100% unbalanced output on grid and off
  • Big roofs on a smaller budget of inverter: 50kW of panels on a 25kW hybrid is the most generous solar-to-inverter ratio of the four
  • Anyone who wants whole-home backup without buying a separate gateway box

Conditions & what may be extra

  • Final system size, battery capacity and inverter model are confirmed at the site assessment
  • Three-phase supply required. If the property is single phase today, a supply upgrade is a separate job and is quoted separately
  • Network connection approval is required before installation. At this capacity the network will usually apply an export limit, which we confirm in writing as part of your quote
  • Switchboard upgrades, metering changes and main-supply upgrades are extra if required
  • Roof structure, access, tilt frames and long cable runs are assessed and quoted per site
  • Quoted after eligible STC and federal battery rebates; eligibility and the final rebate value depend on your system, zone and situation
  • Manufacturer warranties require the system to be registered with the manufacturer at commissioning, which we do for you
  • This is a 25kW inverter, not 29.9kW. It is the largest three-phase hybrid Sungrow build for homes, and if you need the full 30kW your connection allows, look at the other three systems on this page
  • Whole-home backup depends on switchboard condition, circuits and a load assessment. The bypass is rated 63A and 43kVA, and we confirm what it will actually carry before you sign
  • The battery tower is floor standing and a full eight-module SBH400 is 376kg and stands 1,540mm tall. We check the location and the floor on site

Approved for the rebate, and here is the entry

SH25T (AS4777-2 2020) is listed on the Clean Energy Council's approved inverter list, approved 18 April 2024 and current to 18 April 2027. That listing is what makes the system eligible for solar STCs and the federal battery rebate, alongside sign-off by our SAA accredited installer.

Work it out yourself

Is this the right size for your place?

Put your own daily usage in and see how much of it a system covers, hour by hour. In kilowatt hours, not sales talk. A system this size is a lot for most homes, and the calculator will tell you so.

FAQ

Three Phase Questions

Straight answers on the sizing, the network limits, backup and the rebates, from the licensed contractor doing the work.

Why is this one 25kW when the others are 29.9kW?

Because that is the biggest three-phase hybrid Sungrow make for homes, and we would rather tell you than quietly imply otherwise. Sungrow do build a 29.9kW three-phase unit, the SG30CX, but it is a solar-only string inverter with no battery, and their 100kW machines are commercial gear. If maxing out your 30kW connection is the point, the GoodWe, Fox ESS or Sigenergy systems are the ones to look at. If what you actually want is a big array, a solid battery and the best corrosion protection available, this is a very strong choice.

What is a C5 corrosion rating and why should I care?

C5 is the top corrosion category in the international standard, meant for marine and heavy industrial environments. On the Sunshine Coast that is not a theoretical benefit. Salt air eats electrical equipment, and an inverter mounted on a wall within a few streets of the water lives a much harder life than the same unit inland. Most hybrids are rated well below C5. If your place is close to the beach, this is the single most practical reason to choose it.

Can I really put 50kW of panels on a 25kW inverter?

Yes, on a battery system. The rule limiting an array to a third more than the inverter comes from the CEC guidelines for grid-connected systems with no storage, and it does not bind here. Solar Accreditation Australia's guidelines allow you to exceed it on a battery system as long as the inverter manufacturer permits it, and STCs are claimable on the whole array. Sungrow rate the SH25T for a 50kW array, which is double the inverter and the most generous ratio of the four systems we install. On a big roof that is a lot of extra winter and cloudy-day generation for no extra inverter.

How big can the battery go?

One SBH tower runs from two modules to eight, and each module is 5kWh, so a full tower is 40kWh. Unusually, the depth of discharge is settable up to 100%, which means all 40kWh is available to you rather than a slice being held back. Sungrow's SBH platform also parallels multiple towers, so more is possible where a site genuinely needs it. How many towers your inverter takes is confirmed at design, and we will put the actual number in your quote rather than a brochure maximum.

Does it do whole-home backup?

Yes, and without an extra box. The SH25T has a 63A bypass built in, rated to 43kVA, and it changes over in under ten milliseconds. It also supports 100% unbalanced output, which matters on three phase: many systems need the load spread evenly across the phases, and real houses are never evenly spread. What the backup will actually carry still depends on your switchboard and loads, so we do a load assessment and put it in writing.

Is it rebate eligible?

Yes. The SH25T is on the Clean Energy Council's approved inverter list, approved 18 April 2024 and current to 18 April 2027, and our installs are signed off by our SAA accredited installer. Eligible solar STCs and the federal battery rebate are applied up front in your written quote. At 40kWh the battery sits comfortably under the 50kWh ceiling where the rebate stops counting, so the whole stack earns.

How does it compare to the others you install?

It is the smallest inverter of the four and the toughest against salt air, and it takes the biggest array relative to its size. The GoodWe and Sigenergy arrive as single towers, which is neater. The Fox ESS separates inverter and battery, which suits awkward layouts. If you are close to the water, or your roof is much bigger than your load, this is the one we would point you at. Ask us and we will give you a straight answer for your address.

This is the big end of our range, and we install all four. If it is more than you need, the residential packages are the same quality of install at a size that suits an ordinary home.
