GoodWe 29.9kW Three Phase All-in-One with a Full Battery Stack

This is the largest system we can put on an ordinary three-phase connection, and it arrives as one unit rather than a wall full of separate boxes. The GoodWe ESA stacks a 29.9kW three-phase hybrid inverter on top of its own battery modules in a single IP66 tower: inverter, storage and the switching gear for whole-home backup, all pre-wired. Our headline build is a full six-module tower of just under 50kWh with up to 60kW of solar on the roof, and a second column takes it past that if you need more.

Conditions & what may be extra

  • Final system size, battery capacity and inverter model are confirmed at the site assessment
  • Three-phase supply required. If the property is single phase today, a supply upgrade is a separate job and is quoted separately
  • Network connection approval is required before installation. At this capacity the network will usually apply an export limit, which we confirm in writing as part of your quote
  • Switchboard upgrades, metering changes and main-supply upgrades are extra if required
  • Roof structure, access, tilt frames and long cable runs are assessed and quoted per site
  • Quoted after eligible STC and federal battery rebates; eligibility and the final rebate value depend on your system, zone and situation
  • Manufacturer warranties require the system to be registered with the manufacturer at commissioning, which we do for you
  • Whole-home backup depends on switchboard condition, circuits and a load assessment. We confirm what the backup will actually carry before you sign anything
  • The tower needs floor or wall space roughly 800mm wide, and a six-module stack is around 500kg. We check the location on site

GW29.999K-ETA-G20 (AS4777-2 2020) is listed on the Clean Energy Council's approved inverter list, approved 16 February 2026 and current to 16 February 2029. That listing is what makes the system eligible for solar STCs and the federal battery rebate, alongside sign-off by our SAA accredited installer.

FAQ

Three Phase Questions

Straight answers on the sizing, the network limits, backup and the rebates, from the licensed contractor doing the work.

Why 29.9kW and not 30kW?

Because 30kW is the line. Energex and Ergon both allow up to 30kW of inverter capacity on a three-phase connection under the same joint connection standards, so a 29.9kW inverter is the biggest one that keeps your application an ordinary small-connection application instead of a negotiated one. The 0.1kW you give up is worth the paperwork you avoid.

Can I really put 60kW of panels on a 29.9kW inverter?

Yes, on a battery system. The rule that limits an array to a third more than the inverter comes from the CEC guidelines for grid-connected systems with no storage, and it does not bind here. Solar Accreditation Australia's guidelines allow you to exceed it on a battery system as long as the inverter manufacturer permits it, and STCs are still claimable on the whole array. GoodWe rate this unit for 60kW of solar input across four MPPT trackers. Most competitors quote you a smaller array because they are applying a rule that does not apply to your system.

How big can the battery actually go?

Six modules is a full stacked column, which with the 8.32kWh module is 49.9kWh. Past that you go to a second column, up to twelve modules in total, and GoodWe rate the platform to 108kWh using their larger 9.0kWh module. Two things usually stop people before the hardware does. The federal battery rebate stops counting at 50kWh, so the last module under that line is the cheapest storage you will ever buy and the first one over it is the dearest. And a full column is already around half a tonne on your floor. Six modules lands just under the rebate line on purpose, and we will happily go further if your usage genuinely justifies it.

Will it run the whole house in a blackout?

That is what this unit is built for. The ESA has an 80A bypass and its own switching gear inside the cabinet, so it backs up the whole board without a separate gateway box, and it changes over in under four milliseconds, which is fast enough that computers and routers do not notice. What it will actually carry still depends on your switchboard, your circuits and your loads, so we do a load assessment and tell you in writing what stays on rather than promising you the world.

Will the network let me export 29.9kW?

Almost certainly not, and we will say so before you buy rather than after. At this capacity the network usually applies an export limit. That matters far less than people expect on a system like this one, because a 49.9kWh battery means the generation you are not allowed to export goes into storage instead of being thrown away. We put the export limit that applies to your address in your written quote.

Is it rebate eligible?

Yes. The GW29.999K-ETA-G20 is on the Clean Energy Council's approved inverter list, approved 16 February 2026 and current to 16 February 2029, and our installs are signed off by our SAA accredited installer. Eligible solar STCs and the federal battery rebate are applied up front in your written quote.

What warranties come with it?

GoodWe cover the ESA with a 10-year manufacturer warranty, the Trina Vertex S+ panels carry a 25-year product and 30-year performance warranty, and our installation work is covered by our lifetime workmanship warranty (conditions apply, see our Terms). Manufacturer warranties only hold if the system is registered with the manufacturer at commissioning, so we do that registration for you rather than leaving it to you to remember.

How does it compare to the Fox ESS three-phase system?

They land in much the same place and we install both. The GoodWe is one integrated tower with whole-home backup and its switching gear built in, which makes for a tidier install and a simpler backup story. The Fox ESS is a separate wall-mounted inverter with battery stacks beside it, which is more flexible about where things go and has two battery inputs. If you want the neatest possible installation, look at the GoodWe. If you want to expand hard later or the layout is awkward, look at the Fox ESS. We are happy either way, so ask us which one suits your site.

This is the big end of our range, and we install all four. If it is more than you need, the residential packages are the same quality of install at a size that suits an ordinary home.
