For electrical work that makes it the opposite of the older Caloundra streets. The switchboard is already modern with safety switches throughout, so there is usually nothing to fix before you add anything. What we mostly do out here is add the things the builder left out: a battery behind an existing small solar system, backup power, a proper charger in the garage instead of a power point, ceiling fans, extra points and outdoor and alfresco power. Blocks are compact, which is actually in your favour on price, because the run from the switchboard to where the gear goes is usually short.

Aura electrical FAQs
My Aura home already has solar from the builder. Can I just add a battery?
Usually yes, and it is the most common job we do out here. Builder-fitted systems tend to be small and have no battery, so the question is whether we pair a battery with your existing inverter or fit a hybrid inverter and reuse the panels. Both are normal. We look at what is actually on your roof and in your meter box before recommending either, because the answer changes the price.
Do I need a switchboard upgrade like the older Caloundra homes do?
Almost never. That is the real advantage of a new home. Aura boards already have safety switches on every circuit and generally have room for the extra protection a battery or charger needs, so the switchboard work that adds cost on a 1970s beach house usually does not apply. If yours is the exception we will tell you before you commit.
The blocks out here are small. Where does the battery actually go?
On a compact lot the position matters more, because a battery needs clearances and should not sit somewhere that bakes in the afternoon sun. Garage walls and shaded side walls are the usual answer. Our pricing holds when the battery and inverter are within 10 metres of the main switchboard, and on an Aura block that is nearly always easy to achieve.
Can you install an EV charger in a new Aura garage?
Yes, and it is straightforward here. The board is modern, the garage is close to it, and the cable run is short, which is exactly the situation a fixed-price charger install is built for. A proper wall charger is a different thing to plugging into a power point, both in speed and in safety.
Is my home too new to bother with a safety check?
Generally, yes. The $199 twenty point safety check earns its money on older housing stock, and on a near-new Aura home there is usually very little for it to find. We would rather tell you that than sell you one you do not need. If something is actually misbehaving, book a fault-find instead.
Do you work in Baringa, Nirimba and Banya, or just parts of Aura?
All of them, plus Galgalba as it opens up, and neighbouring Bells Creek. It is all the same 4551 run as Caloundra and Golden Beach for us.
