What is included

Everything the lease leans on

  • Every smoke alarm tested and cleaned, with the interconnection proven
  • Every safety switch trip tested, not just the button
  • A look over the switchboard for anything a tenant should not live with
  • A dated written record with the results, for your file and the tenancy
  • Hardwired interconnected photoelectric alarms supplied and fitted on the same visit, added when you book
  • The same licensed electrician for the fix, if one is needed, at our standard price

Straight talk on the paperwork

What a landlord needs from a visit like this is proof the alarms and safety switches were tested, when, by whom and with what result. That is what this visit leaves you with: a dated written record from a licensed electrician, not a sticker and not a certificate nobody asked for.

The rules change. We check the current requirements before every visit and tell you what applies to your property, rather than printing them here.

How it works

One visit, one record

  1. 1

    Book the visit

Pick a weekday slot, tell us how many alarms to bring if you already know, and pay the one figure. Put the tenant or agency contact in the notes.

  2. 2

    We test

A licensed electrician tests and cleans every alarm, proves they talk to each other, trip tests every safety switch and looks over the board. About an hour.

  3. 3

    Your record, the same day

A dated written record with every result, addressed to you or your agency, for the tenancy file.

  4. 4

    Fix only if needed

An alarm past its date or a circuit with no safety switch gets a fixed price, separately, at our standard price.

FAQ

Rental check questions

What does the rental check include?

Your visit covers every smoke alarm tested and cleaned with the interconnection proven, every safety switch trip tested, a look over the switchboard, and a dated written record with the results for your tenancy file. A hardwired interconnected photoelectric alarm can be supplied and fitted on the same visit, priced when you book.

Do I get a certificate?

A dated record of the alarms and safety switches tested on the day, with the results, for your tenancy file. It is a record of testing, not a certificate.

Why use an electrician instead of a smoke alarm subscription?

A subscription sends someone to press the button. A licensed electrician can also replace a hardwired alarm on the spot, trip test the safety switches that the lease also leans on, and spot the board problem before a tenant does. One visit, one record, no yearly fee, and nothing is sold to you that the record does not show you need.

How many alarms will the property need?

It depends on the layout and on the rules that apply to the tenancy, which we check against the current legislation before every visit. If you know how many are missing, add them to the booking and we bring them. If not, leave it at none and we tell you on the day what the property needs and why.

Is the fee credited back if we do the work?

No. The fee is not credited back and not refundable once the visit is done. It pays for the visit and the written report, which is yours to keep whatever you decide next.

I manage several properties. Can I book a run?

Yes. Book the first one here and put the others in the notes, or call 0494 826 740 and we line them up on one day. Your agency gets one record per property, each the same day.

Can the tenant book this for a fault, or ask the landlord to pay?

Faults go through the property manager, who is also the one who books this check. A tenant with something sparking, smoking or tripping right now should call the agency's emergency repairer, and our emergency page explains what counts.

“Awesome company to deal with from start to finish. Great communication, job planning and installation process. Not at all pushy, but very caring. Clear quote prior to work being done. Dan stayed back until quite late to ensure everything was working as it should! Would highly recommend.”

“The Guys at Nuvolt were absolutely wonderful to deal with. We were upgrading our Solar. They were so polite - did what they said they would do - came when they said - and stayed until the job was fully complete. And they tidied up. I would recommend them to anyone looking at getting or upgrading Solar. Thanks guys so much.”

“I highly recommend Nuvolt Electrical. Dan and Lara were clear and professional with all communications prior the Fox Ess battery install. They let me know all my options and were never pushy or assertive for the sale like some of the larger sub contractor style businesses. On the day of install, Dan and Sergio showed up on time, completed a neat install and took the time to explain the app integration. The job site was left clean and tidy. Great to support a local business and I encourage others to do the same!”

“Just wanted thanks Daniel and his team for the installation of my ev charger. Was very good at communicating and chasing energex up to have my charger connected. And went above and beyond in customer service to see if was happy with the end product. Also reasonably priced. Just wanted say Thank you very much.”

“Very highly recommended, proceed with confidence! Top quality battery and EV charger installation, while being extremely neat. I could not fault them. It's clear that at all levels they take pride in their work all the way down to the apprentice. You get what you pay for and they are absolutely worth it while being reasonably priced. Top guys to chat with while they worked as well, and as a bonus they're a small local business. Great job team”

“I honestly wish I met Dan and Lara earlier, so professional, easy to deal with and very well priced. Far and above the other guys in the solar and battery game. Lara made sure we had all the correct data, and Dan did a site inspection before locking in pricing. The system is working brilliantly and the Fox app is so much better than our previous system. Highly recommend these guys.”
