New ceiling fans
Fans installed where there was only a light, or nothing at all. We run the wiring, fit a mount rated for the fan's weight and movement, and set up wall or remote control. Fan and light combos are wired so the light and fan switch independently, the way it should be done.
Fan replacements
Swapping a wobbly, noisy or dated fan for a modern DC fan is one of the quickest comfort upgrades a home can get. Modern DC motors move more air, run near silent and use a fraction of the power of the fans installed twenty years ago. We remove the old unit, check the wiring and mount, and fit the new fan properly.
Outdoor and patio fans
Covered decks and patios are where Sunshine Coast families actually live, and they need fans rated for damp, salty coastal air. We install outdoor-rated fans with corrosion-resistant finishes and the correct IP rating for the location, so they last more than a couple of summers near the beach.
Bathroom exhaust fans

Why not DIY a fan swap?
In Queensland it is illegal for an unlicensed person to install, replace or hardwire a ceiling fan, and the penalties are serious because the risk is serious: fans combine mains wiring with a spinning motor mounted over people. Beyond legality, the common DIY failures are undersized mounts, ceilings that wobble, and controls wired wrong. A licensed install costs less than fixing any of those, and it comes with a certificate and our lifetime workmanship warranty.

Can I install a ceiling fan myself in Queensland?
No. In Queensland any electrical work involving fixed wiring, which includes installing a new ceiling fan or replacing an existing one, must be done by a licensed electrician. It is one of the strictest rules in the country and the fines for unlicensed work are substantial. It also matters practically: a fan is a spinning motor above people's heads, and the mount, the wiring and the switching all need to be right. We install it legally, certify the work and warrant it.
Can you put a fan where there is currently just a light?
Usually, yes. A common job for us is converting a central light point into a fan with a light, which involves confirming the switch wiring, fitting a properly rated mount to the ceiling framing and installing a fan and light combo that can be controlled separately. Where the existing switch setup only has one circuit, we can often use a fan with a remote so you still get independent control without opening walls for new switch wiring.
What is the difference between AC and DC ceiling fans?
DC fans use a newer motor design that is significantly more efficient, quieter and smoother, typically with six or more speeds and a remote as standard. They cost a little more to buy but use roughly half to a third of the power of an equivalent AC fan and are noticeably quieter at night. For bedrooms and living areas we generally recommend DC. AC fans still make sense where budget leads and the fan runs occasionally.
My fan wobbles or clicks. Can it be fixed, or does it need replacing?
Some wobble is fixable: blades can be balanced with a kit, loose screws tightened and the mount checked. But a fan that has wobbled for years often has worn bearings or a fatigued mount, and an older AC fan is usually not worth paying labour to nurse along when a modern DC replacement moves more air, runs silent and uses less power. We will tell you honestly which side of that line your fan is on.
What kind of fan do I need outdoors or near the beach?
Covered outdoor areas need a fan rated for damp locations, and close to the ocean you want corrosion-resistant materials, meaning ABS polymer or specifically coated blades and stainless or marine-grade hardware, plus an appropriate IP rating. A standard indoor fan on a coastal patio will pit, stain and seize within a few seasons. We install outdoor and coastal-rated fans built for exactly the conditions Sunshine Coast homes face.
Do bathroom exhaust fans need to be ducted?
To actually work, yes. An exhaust fan that dumps steam straight into the roof space just moves your mould problem out of sight, and modern requirements call for moist air to be vented appropriately, ideally ducted to outside air. We install and replace exhaust fans and three-in-one units, duct them properly and wire them so they run with the light or on their own switch, whichever suits the household.
How many fans should a typical home have, and is it cheaper to do them all at once?
Most Coast homes end up with fans in every bedroom and the main living areas. Doing several fans in one visit is genuinely more economical than one-off visits, because the setup, testing and certification overheads are shared across the job.
